From Introductions to Incredible Support: My Adventure with MGTS in China

2023-06-14

Like most foreigners, I suppose, this is not my first rodeo in China. What a roller-coaster it has been thus far.

My journey with MGTS has been going strong for quite a while: It all started in mid 2022, when I was introduced to Ann through my previous agent. We quickly got through the introductions and an interview was scheduled. Bear in mind that I had a few requirements of the agency that I signed up with - the most important one, that they help to bring my mom over. Yes, you read that correctly. Ann was adorable and I could feel an appropriate give-and-take relationship forming. She listed her needs and I listed mine.

All requirements were met, a contract was signed and paperwork had begun*. This was when I met Somnus, my FAS (foreign affairs specialist).  And special he was. He went over-and-above all expectations I could possibly have had. He was kind, patient and - most of all - extremely reassuring. He answered all of my questions and assisted with all the *frenzied* passport and visa visits. In all this, Somnus never said a bad word to me - even though we had figured out that I was going arrive two weeks later than initially expected.

Fast forward a few weeks... we FINALLY made it. Yes, in case you were wondering, my mother is also in China. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (not!) we set off. Somnus and Ann were on-point with getting everything sorted and helping us get to where we needed to be when we needed to be there.

My mother and I have been in China for almost four months now. And I have been able to do so many things I never thought I would. If it hadn’t been for MGTS, none of this would have been possible. Therefore, I can say, with all honesty, that MGTS is an incredible company and a greater ally to have if you ever consider the big relocation.

I would just like to take this opportunity to apologize (Ann and Somnus) for any and all stress, anxiety as well as frustration that I have caused. Also, a big thanks to Protoss for picking us up  before the dusk of dawn, at the airport.

*Big note to all future South Africans: get your paperwork started AT LEAST 4-5 months ahead of your arrival date.
