The city, being only 40 years old, offers a comfortable setting for expatriates, making it an exciting place to explore.

Living costs in Shenzhen pleasantly surprised me; it's incredibly affordable compared to Western standards, allowing me to fully enjoy life without constantly worrying about my budget. The culinary scene is a delightful adventure, offering a mix of local street food and familiar tastes from home. Shenzhen's efficient transportation, extensive subway system, and readily available facilities make daily life convenient and enjoyable.

The local culture is rich and inviting, providing an opportunity to immerse myself in both traditional Chinese customs and the buzz of a modern city.

Being a TEFL teacher in Shenzhen has been a journey filled with highs and a few challenges. Working with kindergarteners is incredibly rewarding as I contribute to shaping young minds. While the language barrier can be a hurdle, the use of translation apps and a patient approach makes communication manageable.

For new teachers, my advice is to embrace cultural differences, respect other people and their cultures, and remain open to learning. Flexibility is crucial, and establishing strong communication with colleagues helps create a supportive environment. The warm embrace offered by my colleagues in the kindergarten has been a cornerstone of my experience, creating a sense of community and making every day feel like a collaborative adventure.
