Transforming China Job Challenges into Success!
Finding a job and moving to China is not and should not be an easy process. There are several procedures and barriers in place to ensure that only people who are determined to go can make it there. Even if you have the greatest possible desire to go there, the task at hand can be lengthy and daunting. If it weren’t for the assistance of Vanilla from the TLD team, I might still be grappling with the challenges.
My entry to China was particularly difficult as I ran into a few issues that held up my application process. Firstly, I was very particular about the age group of children I wanted to teach. Secondly, the initial school that I was interviewed at decided to withdraw my offer as the visa process was taking too long. At this point, I thought this was the end of my move to China before it had even begun. I prepared to tell all my friends and family that I would no longer be undertaking such a fantastic adventure.
However,Vanilla, my recruitment consultant, had a different plan in mind. In just two days, she had already found another high school that was looking for staff, and she arranged an interview between me and the deputy headteacher. This interview went smoothly, and we were a great fit for each other. What's more, the new city offered a lower cost of living, allowing me to save more money and boost my happiness quotient!—a pleasant surprise!
Vanilla played a crucial role in facilitating communication and managing essential documents such as the contract, work permit, and visa. She also had connections that allowed me to avoid wasting time finding solicitors to certify all my documents, meaning I could focus on planning, preparing, and packing. Whenever I had a request, she was there to help – time zones permitting! – and she spent lots of time reassuring me that the application would indeed go through and that the school would wait for me.
When I arrived in Hefei, China's vibrant capital of Anhui province, blends rich history with modern charm, creating a dynamic cultural tapestry. I was slightly overwhelmed as I had never left Europe before, but an airport transfer was waiting for me and the driver was very kind and efficient, arranged by TLD team my school. The school also arranged accommodation immediately for me, so I didn’t have to waste time worrying about hotels and places to put my belongings.
Overall, without Vanilla and the TLD team, I don’t know what I would have done. Vanilla's assistance was invaluable—she was not only helpful but also hardworking and efficient throughout the entire process. Now, as I revel in my time in China, I have Vanilla to thank for orchestrating a smooth transition and ensuring that my adventure in this vibrant country became a reality.
